The media library digital asset management system controls access to digital media stored within the Medialibrary. You can think of the system as a central repository of all your pictures, photos, images, design formats, documents, video and sound clips with a web site style of user interface controlling how users interact with digital media files. Digital image management provides the basis of control and security in an environment where multiple users share digital media assets.

XMP is Adobe's (eXtensible Metadata Platform) labelling technology that standardises the storage of meta data within a digital media file. The Medialibrary also stores metadata within its digital image database allowing fast retrieval of information when users search the library for media. Synchronisation of meta data within a media file, and the metadata stored in the database, is maintained by the Medialibrary digital asset software.

Medialibrary role based user management simplifies the administrative task of controlling user access of the media library. A role defines a set of functions and permissions allowed within the library. Users of the library are assigned particular roles. Since users do not assign their own functions or permissions directly, but only acquire them through their role, management of individual users becomes simply a matter of assigning roles by the Administrator.

The Medialibrary can be configured to authenticate access using Windows authentication making use of the security credentials of a user logged into a Microsoft Windows domain. A Windows domain is a group of computers running Microsoft Windows that share a central database called Active Directory. Active Directory manages the domain users and stores their security information. This information is used by Medialibrary to authenticate domain users and determine access to the media content without the need for the user to log into the library. In short - the Medialibrary supports single sign on.

Populating the library with a large number of media files can be a long process when using a web browser interface which is why the the client file uploader application was created. This application is installed on your personal computer and allows files to be quickly and easily uploaded into the Medialibrary over http. Batches of files can be uploaded in the background whilst index information is entered.

The uploader application has both manual and automatic mode of uploading. Common information can be entered for multiple files.
